Mysterious Earth

Do we share our world with OTHERS?

We've all heard the rumours of UFOs and alien lifeforms coming here from other planets. But the problem is that in reality it would take them too long to get here from even the nearest of our neighbouring stars.

But what if they actually came from our world? Some investigators believe that the alien 'greys' are actually beings who live alongside us but in a parallel reality.

Quantum physics says that alternative realities are possible. But if aliens did come from a parallel dimension occupying the same space as our world, it would take massive amounts of energy to cross between the two.

Alternative worlds and other dimensions could account for the sightings of weird creatures that come from all around the world.

Nagas, or lizardmen, have been sighted in the Himalayas. They are said to look like small dinosaurs called velociraptors. Some researchers believe they went deep underground when the other dinosaurs were wiped out by a meteor strike. The Nagas then slipped away into another dimension - except for when they slip back through the divide between the two worlds and frighten mountaineers out of their wits.

Even Stranger Theories about our World

Hollow Earth Theory
This theory comes from an ancient belief that our world is hollow and contains an inner kingdom inhabited by strange beings. A great deal of old stories talk about hidden tunnels and caves that lead to other worlds. But maybe these stories are actually talking about inner dimensions and alternative realities rather than an actual world inside our own.

Some scientists do believe our planet might be hollow, though.

Hollow Moon
Another theory suggests that the moon is hollow. In 1969 the astronauts of Apollo XII jettisoned part of the lunar module as they took off from the moon's surface. Apparently the moon rang like a bell for an hour afterwards. And after NASA scientists had had a chance to analyse the seismological information, they declared that the moon seemed to be a hollow sphere.

So could the moon be a made object rather than a natural one? Is it an alien artefact?

Think about this - Why have astronauts not gone back to the moon to find answers? Back in 1969 it would have been difficult to set up a base on the moon. But nowadays exploration equipment could be taken up into space during the shuttle flights a piece at a time.

Or maybe someone at NASA knows the moon is an artificial object and there ARE mysterious objects of some kind there that should be kept from our eyes.

Fairies or Aliens?

There are a lot of similarities between fairytales and modern stories of UFOs and aliens.

Both fairies and aliens are said to try to abduct humans.

When someone was stolen by fairies time would stand still - or in some cases move faster or slower. The same is said by people who have experienced alien abductions.

Strange lights, called fairy lights were often seen around places considered haunted by fairies. When people report UFOs they also report strange lights dancing in the sky.

It seems that the lights haven't changed but the people witnessing them have different ideas on what's causing them!

One researcher believes that the appearance of strange lights or UFO's or other strange phenomena is not due to fairies or aliens. He believes there are certain areas in the world where these mysterious 'earthlights' are formed by natural causes, such as fault or stress lines in the earth.

Strange objects have been seen in the skies for thousands of years. The abbeys of England, Scotland and Wales, have many recordings of strange phenomena. But only recently did we start thinking they may be visitors from other planets. In 793 someone reported seeing dragons over Northumberland. If we saw the same event today, we might see the object as a flying saucer!

Foo Fighters

Maybe foo fighters can be explained as natural 'earthlights'. Foo fighters were small balls of light spotted by pilots in Europe and the Pacific, during the second world war.

Some pilots thought they were experimental aircraft being used by the enemy, but there were no reports of attacks from the objects. There were reports of formations of Foo Fighters acting almost as though they were playing tag with the human pilots.

No one has ever come up with a satisfactory explanation regarding the true nature of these mysterious objects.

Mysterious Deaths

When someone famous dies unexpectedly, then rumours start flying around that their death was faked and they are actually alive and living a secret life away from the limelight. Is this just wishful thinking by fans, or could it sometimes be the truth?

In the 1960's fans believed Paul McCartney had died in a car crash and had been replaced by a lookalike.

Fans believed that they could hear eerie voices telling them of Paul's death when some Beatles tracks were played backwards.

In the song Revolution, a deep voice spookily repeats the words 'Number 9', the date when Paul supposedly died. When the track is played backwards there is a voice saying 'Turn me on, dead man' and 'Let me out! Let me out!', which are said to be the death cries of Paul McCartney, trapped in his car...

Between 'I'm So Tired' and 'Blackbird' there is an ominous mumble. When reversed, it is supposed to say 'Paul is dead man, miss him, miss him, miss him'.

There are also plenty of clues on the Beatles album covers. On the Abbey Road album, the four Beatles walk in a funeral procession, with Paul out of step and barefoot as the corpse. In the background is a Volkswagen Beetle with the number plate LMW 28IF, which is supposed to hint that Paul would be 28 If still alive. But in reality Paul was 27 at the time he supposedly died

On the cover of Let it Be, Paul McCartney's photo is the only one with a blood-red background.

Bruce Lee, the ultimate fighter, died in mysterious circumstances aged only 32, and rumours still circulate over what really happened.

In 1973, Lee was about to go out for dinner when he complained of a headache. A doctor gave him a painkiller. Then Bruce, the fittest man in the world, lay down and died. Some think that his death was due to an allergy to the painkiller, but others have different theories. Here's a few of them.

He was killed by Chinese triad gangsters because he refused to pay them protection money.

He was killed by a 'death touch' from another martial artist for revealing ancient secrets to foreigners.

He was killed by supernatural means - by an Oni or Japanese Demon. Others believe he was killed by a curse.

If it was a curse then the "Curse of Bruce Lee" was carried over to his son, Brandon Lee, who was tragically and mysteriously shot and killed by a prop gun during the filming of The Crow in 1993. The gun should have been loaded with blanks.

Other famous people who are rumoured to have faked their deaths - Elvis, Princess Diana and Tupac.

Capturing the Unknown

If you're interested in finding out more about our mysterious world, then there are experiments you can do for yourself.

Photographing Rods
'Rods' are a strange objects that show up on some digital photographs or videos. They are usually long and thin and measure from a few inches to several metres long. They have a series of blurred wings or fins along the sides of their bodies.

But what is a Rod?
Is it the newest and most breathtaking lifeform ever to exist on our earth without us knowing it was there? It's only since the advent of digital cameras that we've been taking pictures of these elusive creatures. This could be because they move too fast for the human eye to see them, until we slow the digital video tape down.

According to some people there are giant relatives of the little earth Rods, living out in space; giant 100 feet long rods, floating between the Earth and Mars like giant mechanical centipedes.

The truth might be that a 'Rod' is just an insect caught in a photograph during mid flight. The wing beats of the insect account for the long fins along the body, and the rod itself is the motion-blurred insect as it darts across the picture. But if this is correct, what accounts for the photographs of the big Rods in outer space.

Why don't you test it yourself with your own camera. Here's how.

How to video small Rods
The most successful videos of the little rods are videoed out in the country, near caves where there are some nice contrasting light and shadow patches. Stand so that you can point your camera at the dark shadows in the mouth of caves or tunnels (not railway tunnels or you might get a shot of a train at very close range rather than a little flying rod.) If you can set your camera to record faster than 24 frames a second, do it. Then hope for the best.

How to video Space Rods
Put your camera on a tripod. Don't look through the viewfinder. Point your camera up into the sky, but not pointing at the sun, unless you want to ruin the lens. Leave it there . Come back later and then watch the footage. If you have been lucky, marvel at the strange techno shapes on the film.

How to hear Ghost Voices
EVP stands for Electronic Voice Phenomena. It is the recording of disembodied voices on audio tape. It is believed by some that the voices recorded through this technique are those of ghosts. Others believe they are hearing voices from another dimension.

The voices captured on tape are often very faint and need computer enhancement to be heard. Some researchers argue that they are not voices at all.

There is still no scientific proof that the voices are from the dead, or from any lifeform at all.

If you want to try to capture voices for yourself, this is how you do it.

You will need:

1. A radio that can pick up Medium Wave. Not a digital radio, but the sort with knobs and a dial. Ask your parents or grandparents - someone's bound to have an old one somewhere.

2. A Tape Recorder and a NEW tape.

3. A good microphone.

4. Headphones.

5. A quiet room away from the T.V. and any other noises.

Now you are fully equipped, let's begin

1. Tune the radio to 1450-1475 KHZ or until there is only white noise, and not even a hint of voices or music from a radio station. White noise sounds like static buzzing randomly.

2. Switch on the tape recorder.

3. Do not make any movement or noise which could be picked up by the microphone.

4. You can if you wish say "Hi, this is ..........(insert name) anyone out there want to chat with me?"

5. Record the silence that follows for about one minute.

6. Then rewind the tape, put on your headphones and listen to your recording really carefully. You will hear NOTHING! Do you know why? Because your ears are not used to hearing the voices. You have to train them and the way to do this is to keep playing that little bit of tape over and over again, maybe ten times in all. Each time, listen carefully and if you've got good ears maybe you will hear just one tiny word, usually just after you have introduced yourself.

If you do hear a word on the tape, remember there are many explanations for what you are hearing. The most common is that you are just picking up stray radio transmissions from our crowded airwaves!
